hey guys. my good friend ed-paris hooked me up with this nice internet back to back dubstep mix, which he made with his djtechtools mate midifidler during the last couple of weeks. they kept sending their mix back and forth, dropping two songs each time and kept going until this little baby was born. midifidler started the set, ed-paris followed. by dropping tunes from producers like vaski, borgore and ultrablack they pretty much stated, what kind of dubstep they prefer to drop. party hard material – for sure – but don’t make the mistake to use this mix, to introduce dubstep to people who don’t know what it’s like – they’d surely run away and call the cops. or just skip forward to nero’s in the middle remix…
furthermore, i’m really glad to see level67 & CEK’s “the whore” being dropped. this tune just makes my dong a bit harder. but oh well. this is going to far… big shouts to the Södertälje Massive Crew in Stockholm!
i really like the idea of two djs, no matter where they are settled in this world. ed-paris is a german, leipzig based dj and midifidler is from new zealand. keep em coming.

Pirate Soundsystem have been up there with our favourite producers for a good couple of years now and we´re always excited to hear new stuff from them. The new stuff this time is an EP coming out in a couple of weeks on Coin Operated Records who have had the likes of Kanji Kinetic, L-Vis 1990, Squire of Gothos to name just a few. The EP is titled “Trip II London” which has four tracks, each to a different style but all based around ravey samples and big basslines. Ideal. It’s only a vinyl release at the moment but hopefully that’ll change.

Statix have been producing music individually for a number of years between them but only been together as a team for just over a year. Coming from varied musical backgrounds – Metal, Reggae and early Drum & Bass, their sound is dark and diverse while keeping it interesting, rhythmic and not noisy. For me this is important as there are so many new producers coming into the scene trying to make a name for themselves by making horrible filthy noise rather than music. That’s enough on that topic.

All the best things are free and this EP fits that category quite nicely. 5 different styles portrayed across this release from the Nomadic Art Organisation, try each of them.
Zillion is a first-rate experimental producer and self professed junkie from Norwich – he has been receiving widespread attention for his soulful, bombed out D&B sound.

soon out on Apparition Recordings as a part of Low Freq Poland II compilation
Substep Infrabass is a dark, underground dubstep project which was born in Poland (actually residing in London, UK) in late 2008. S.I deeply rooted in brutal death metal scene represents all darkness and filth every dubstepper craves for. S.I distinctive style of production received great response within international dubstep community in a very short time. His dubs were played on underground dubstep stations and have been reviewed positively in the press.
S.I knows his past, works in the present towards the future and is the one who will bring you the heaviest and filthiest dubs you all love.

Whoop, Whoop, whoop – who is that? I’d like to introduce mr. ben sharpa to you, ladies and gentleman. whoever is familiar with last years Jarring Effects “capetown beats” compilation release, and the recent release of Playdoe’s first EP (which also be reviewed this week), won’t need any further introduction, but for those, who have missed that: let’s start rolling.
Important things first: When I first listened to the songs of this release, i was kindly remembering hearing dizzee rascal for the first time a couple years ago. the beats were pushing, abstract, bassy, hypnotic, mean, grimey and electronic. i really swam in them. but ben’s flow and vocals were so much more aggressive, and hard-hitting, while still remaining idiosyncratic and accessible. i also had to think of mr. oizo and all that electro cats, producing them really flat and abstract beats – and if you’d know me, then you would also know, that i love that shit.
Ben Sharpa is like the missing link between the us hip-hop ala Def Jux and the UK grime scene, with its hybrid hip hop beats, influenced by my beloved dubstep tunes, electro, detroit techno, electronica, dancehall and even idm / glitch types of music.

i have to thank marie, who told me, that kaly live dub are performing at the raw temple in berlin by tomorrow. the six lyon based guys are playing some really dope psychedelic, industrial kind of dub. their music isnt just built together in a sequencer – it is played live – with real guitars, a real drumset and so on. the pieces on myspace sound great. i gotta check them out and can just recommend, that you do so as well. it will be their only show in germany. so dont miss.

daniel sent me over two links last night. the links were leading me to two youtube videos, playing tunes by a mr. trolley snatcha. i looked them up on boomkat to figure out, that this release is pretty fresh. i have nothing to add to the following review, besides that i need a shower – this tune is too filthy for me:
Northampton’s bright hope for dubstep rave lands on Dub Police with one of the best names in the game, we introduce Mr Trolley Snatcha. Both tracks here give a buzz approximately equivalent to eating 12 wham bars and downing 2 litres of Panda Pop before robbing said trolley from Asda and getting caught by a community support officer. ‘The Future’ delivers a blinding rush of energy, like wading through slow-drying cement with a strobe in your face, while ‘Scattah’ on the flip repeats the trick again with a different sample. Larger than yer mam’s multipack of McCoy’s.

folks, it’s crazy party friday tonight. a couple days ago i wrote about the bassquake – where i wanna go really, really bad. but there is also this wobble party at the tacheles. a versatile night awaits you there. music from trip-hop tunes, over balkan beats, to dubstep are gonna be dropped. the soundsystem seems scary. dave, the impersonated wobble master keeps warning the crowd, and really tries to talk everybody into bringing their earplugs. sounds nice to me…

october 2009 seems to be a good month for dubstep music and parties. one day after the sub:stance party, the third issue of the way of the dub is gonna roll out big, presenting slaughter mob to you. i myself have never been at the ausland venue before. so i cant really tell you much about it, but i am pretty sure, that ill be there checkin it out – if I am not mistaken they will have a 15kW – 20kW soundsystem there that night – that would be sick.
