Pirate Soundsystem have been up there with our favourite producers for a good couple of years now and we´re always excited to hear new stuff from them. The new stuff this time is an EP coming out in a couple of weeks on Coin Operated Records who have had the likes of Kanji Kinetic, L-Vis 1990, Squire of Gothos to name just a few. The EP is titled “Trip II London” which has four tracks, each to a different style but all based around ravey samples and big basslines. Ideal. It’s only a vinyl release at the moment but hopefully that’ll change.

R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC is known for his relentless techniques behind the wheels of steel.2007 R.A.W reinvents himself as 6BLOCC and is releasing his new sound on labels like Lo Dubs, N2O, Tribe Steppaz UK, Bootshake UK, La Dubstep Nostra and the popular white label War Recordings. In 2008, Portland bass music label, Lo Dubs calls upon the 6BLOCC to rock a mix cd featuring the Lo Dubs roster. A blend of hypnotic textures and warped basslines from the future cut the f*ck up using Cubase SX3, 6blocc says, “I decided to use Cubase to give it a different feel than the usual mix-cd and to add my own samples and edits.” The result is ANALOG CLASH, the first CD compilation / mix that features dubstep music from the Americas (north and south) as well as a remix from Vex’d.

“Jekal” is the latest in a long line of gigantic sounding dubstep stompers produced by HD4000. Well known for their Dubstep FM show “Hits from the Hard Drive,” HD4000 have been steadily plotting a course for glory with their undeniably prolific array of orginal tracks. Jekal is no exception to the rulebook, it carries their signature big banging kit work and gritty, in-your-face bassline. For all HD4000 fans, “Jekal” is a welcome addition to their lengthy discography, and will bring anyone not yet familiar with their sound right to the forefront of what they bring to the dance floor. This release is backed with some serious remixes which you can preview and purchase from Mal Label Music.01. Original Mix

Statix have been producing music individually for a number of years between them but only been together as a team for just over a year. Coming from varied musical backgrounds – Metal, Reggae and early Drum & Bass, their sound is dark and diverse while keeping it interesting, rhythmic and not noisy. For me this is important as there are so many new producers coming into the scene trying to make a name for themselves by making horrible filthy noise rather than music. That’s enough on that topic.

This one has been all over the internet/radio etc and there’s a reason for that cos it’s a number of things but well produced, beautifully addictive and soothing are the first that come to mind. Play it before bed or turn it up full volume and it’ll soon be on repeat. The xx on the buttons – you all know about Florence. If you haven’t already picked it up, do it.You’ve Got The Love (The xx Remix) – Florence & The Machine

PropaTingz is a propa fellow who dabbles in perfecting the art of glitched bass music. Since being converted from his old Breakbeat ways he has taken an interesting angle on Dubstep. San Fran’s scene of Glitchhop and suchlike has obviously been a big influence but he has UK Bass sown into his seams.

another promo release i got this week is this piece right here: “sibot and spoek are playdoe”. two great characters combined to an outrageous duo, playdoe. when i heard the first song “it’s that beat”, i started smiling and for some reason i couldnt wipe that smile from my face throughout the whole release. it’s only after the last song was over, the grin was gone, and i had to restart the player.
playdoe delivers a freshness, i haven’t experienced lately. neonrave synthsounds meet booty hiphop. house meets breakbeat. frenchy electro snippets are on sightseeing tour in the ghettos. all together this merges into an energetic and addictive cocktail, i’d love to drink at every upcoming party until the day i die of overdosing.
